What are the different types of Paleo Cooking Oils?

Paleo Cooking Oil Types
Figuring out the best paleo cooking oil can be tough to the paleo newbie. So, I wanted to explain a little bit about each of our favorite types. As I wrote about in a previous blog post olive oil turns rancid when heated. So, using it to cooking items is not something we recommend. However, there are plenty of other paleo cooking oils that do a great job and taste awesome too! Some of these oils may seem a little weird or foreign, but we promise you that they really do work.
Avocado Oil
If you are new to Paleo eating & cooking, I know you are probably shaking head in disbelief. Yes, avocados are more than just a tasty treat or the most awesome guacamole ingredient on the planet. You can also buy avocado oil to cook your food in. I always go with the organic version in a bottle. There are plenty of great brands on the market.
And, they even have a version in a spray bottle! Talk about supreme convenience.
This oil goes great on vegetables or in any marinade. It doesn’t have a crazy over the top flavor, most of them are very mild. So, don’t stress about there being a strange after taste. You won’t even be able to really tell.
Coconut Oil
Not only can you get milk from a coconut, but you can use it to cook with too. Coconut oil is a great paleo cooking oil . It comes in more jar like containers and is thicker. I normally use coconut oil to spread on pans or in anything I’m cooking that is a desert or has a sweet flavor. Unlike Avocado Oil, Coconut Oil does have a strong flavor and smell. It is great for adding flavor to your dishes.
Grapeseed Oil
This was the very first oil I tried years ago. And, it is still a staple in my cooking. It is a mild flavor oil. It is NOT Sweet like coconut oil or like you would think it would be coming from the sweet grape fruit. It is great for using to saute veggies, or on top of your veggies before you put them in the oven to bake. Not really a type of oil I would use in deserts. I would stick with coconut oil for the desert dishes. This oil is available at most of your healthy grocery stores.
There are many many other paleo oil types you can try. However, Coconut Oil, Grapeseed & Avocado Oil are the two that I recommend to start off your new paleo journey. They are both different can be spread over different types of healthy recipes. Please feel to let me know your favorite type of paleo cooking oil and I will definitely give it a try.
